Cambridge Blue at the Oxford Top Gun

The annual Topgun is the gold standard of university team racing, bringing the eight premiere teams (in the eyes of OUYC) to Farmoor Reservoir for a BUSA dry run.

In champagne conditions, a far cry from the storm that cancelled the Magnum in Michaelmas, Cambridge Blue won the first six races before falling victim to an experienced Exeter Blue. At the close of play on day one, we held a strong second position with nine wins from eleven starts.

On the second day, Cambridge started where they left off, winning a vast majority including the end of Exeter’s otherwise unbeaten run. Strathclyde got the better of us not once, but twice. Nevertheless, Cambridge Blue comfortably made the finals, and took away a respectable second place, having completed 26 races in total and enjoyed an outstanding weekend of sailing and social.
