Cambridge at UK Team Racing Nationals

Cambridge Blue and Red competed at the 2023 UKTRA (UK Team Racing Association Nationals) on the 25th/26th March 2023 at Bough Beech Sailing Club. Day 1 was windy, with brief pauses in races to allow squalls to pass through. Cambridge Blue (with a substitute from Imperial due to injury) finished on 75% wins to qualify for gold fleet while Red were unfortunate to be edged out of silver into bronze on a tie break.

Much lighter winds on Saturday made for a very different day, with shifty upwind legs resulting in sudden place changes and close racing causing plenty of work for the umpires. Red won 5/7 to finish as the top university 2nd team, while Blue finished in 7th (and 2nd university team). The event was won by West Kirby Hawks, who only lost one race all weekend!

Overall, a successful weekend for Cambridge. The attention of the two teams now turned towards final training before BUSA in mid-April.

Blue: Mattis Prince (Capt.), Matthew Wright (Imperial), Charlotte McConnell, Adam Rathmell, Rosie Jones, Ewan Gribbin

Red: Luke Bligh, Robbie McDonald (Capt.), Lisanne Blok, Gordon Cogan Sivarajan, Hannah Cox, Tim Hire
