This page summarises the policies of the Club, detailed in the Club Regulations, which University good practice requires us to maintain. If you join the Club you should consult the Regulations and not rely on the brief summaries presented here.
The Club is committed to the University's Equal Opportunities Policy. The Club aims to ensure that members and visitors are treated on their relative merits, abilities and potential, regardless of their sex, gender reassignment, relationships, race, colour, ethnic or national origin, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, religious or political beliefs, age, socio-economic background, or other distinction. The Club does not have sufficient resources to offer sailing and windsurfing to all disabled people. See Section 2 of the Club Regulations for details.
The aim of good conduct is to promote the well-being of all Club members and ensure a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone at any Club event or activity. Members, and any guests that accompany them, are expected to behave appropriately in their sailing and social activities, so as not to interfere with the smooth running of the Club, cause accidents, or bring the Club into disrepute and subject to criticism. The conduct of members also encompasses their internet and social media activities. See Section 3 of the Club Regulations for details.
Our Health, Safety, and Welfare polices follow the University's Sports Service guidelines. Each section manages the day-to-day health, safety, and welfare of its activities by its Trip Leaders, along with its H & S and Welfare Officers. Risk assessments for dinghy sailing and windsurfing are revised annually, and a specific risk assessment is made for each Club trip. See Sections 5 and 6 of the Club Regulations for details, plus some practical tips on water safety.
Accidents deemed reportable under Sports Service health and safety policy must be reported by completing the standard online University Moodle Sports Injury Report, and then notifying the Commodore. This is in addition to complying with all the relevant Grafham Water SC procedures.
Direct your queries concerning sport health and safety arrangements to the Sports Service Head of Operations. If you have a query on welfare you should email Sport Welfare. If your welfare matter is confidential and you do not wish to raise it with one of the Club's Welfare Officers, contact Assistant Director of Sport Karen Pearce (01223 762954).
The Club is active in direct marketing, mainly email marketing but also telemarketing to alumni, and follows the guidelines and good practices of the Direct Marketing Association. The Club also complies with all the requirements of Data Protection legislation. See Section 7 of the Club Regulations for details.
The Commodore's Report for the Club's year, which ends on 31 July, is published each Long Vacation and formally approved at the subsequent Michaelmas Term AGM. View the current Commodore's Report.
The financial accounts for the Club's year, which ends on 31 July, are formally approved at the subsequent Michaelmas Term AGM and submitted to the Proctors in December of that year. Sometimes formal AGM approval takes place after the accounts have been submitted to the Proctors. Members may request a copy of the latest accounts from the Senior Secretary.
The Club is currently registered with the Sports Service and the Proctors Office. Registration arrangements for sports clubs are changing during 2017-20 as new arrangements for Cambridge sport are finalised.
The Constitution is a reference document which defines how the Club is run. Alterations approved by the General Committee must be ratified at a General Meeting. View the current Club Constitution.
Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Annual Student Members Meeting (ASMM) Minutes
The Club's formal AGM takes place towards the end of the Michaelmas Term and elects senior officers and committee. The ASMM takes place in the Easter Term and elects student officers. View the latest AGM Minutes and ASMM Minutes.
If you have any comments regarding our policies, please contact the Commodore, whose email address is maintained on the Club Officers page. If you have a query of any kind, please contact the Senior Secretary via the same page.
